antony110
I have an offer of a early bulkhead from a 87 110 it's in mint condition having only been on the vechile for a short time and then stored well. I would like to use it on a chassis which has been extended and converted to 6 wheels I haven't decided which engine I will use yet I would like to use a 300tdi but because of the extra weight I'm thinking I will need a V8. My question, is there a lot of difference between the bulkheads of a V8 or 300 tdi and the earlier non v8 petrols ?
Adam001
They are fundamentally the same and interchangeable. The TD and 200tdi LT77 bulkheads are the same The 300TDI R380 has a different centre tunnel adapter but the bulkhead remains the same The TD5 R380 has 2 variants, one is the same as the TD/200/300 tunnel shape, but later versions have a different tunnel mounting face pattern which will need cutting out and the earlier style fitting if you want to use earlier tunnels Only other main change is the TD5 wiper mechanism is different to the 200/300 set up. You can fit earlier wiper parts to a TD5 model by inverting the wiper boxes and cutting off the TD5 motor mount. V8 makes no different, the gearbox is the definer I currently have a TD5 bulkhead on my mongrel 110. In short with a bit of modification all defender bulkheads will fit all defenders I think
