02jcole
I've got to write 600 words on a famous engineering entrepreneur for a module at Uni, has anybody got any ideas? The first person that sprang into my mind was James Dyson but I would like to write about someone less well known if possible!

Guest
Sir Clive Sinclair Sir Christopher Cockerell Trevor Baylis The big problem is that most of the British inventors were not in it for the entrepreneurship side of things, take Sir Frank Whittle you could argue that his invention (the jet engine) has done more to change the world than most things but he didn't make any money from the invention. UdderlyOffroad
IKB. An interesting one because anyone who did business with him went out of business pretty quickly! As for entrepreneurs - well my choice would be Harry Ferguson. Come to that, Henry Ford. Both changed the way tractors and cars receptively were perceived and their cost. And please, if you do go for the latter, avoid the 'any colour you like as long as it's black' nonsense.

HoSS
Reginald Victor Jones, if ever there was an unsung hero. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reginald_Victor_Jones Not an entrepreneur, but in his time survival was more important that making money. And he helped all of us to be here today (and still speaking English).

rick
Colin Chapman, grand Prix, car design and consultancy services. Definitely an entrepreneur Ditto Chapman, and surprised he hadn't come up earlier. Revolutionised GP car design several times, and was canny at making some more £ for the GP team by making and selling road cars.
