Leeh1306
I'm sure the answer might have been up before but I couldn't find it so I apologise. I have a 2001 td4 ES. It's started being really low powered especially when pulling off at junctions and going up hill I gave to really drive it through the rev range to get the most of it. When revving at idol the turbo lag is huge! I have done the vortex breather and the egr is removed. Help pleeeeeease!
bm52
i'd check the MAF and for loose or split turbo hoses. The right angle turbo hose by the EGR maybe the culprit.
FridgeFreezer
Also check the small vacuum hoses that operate the turbo nozzle for splits/cracks.
Leeh1306
What do you mean by turbo nozzle? Thanks
FridgeFreezer
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_geometry_turbocharger There is a small solenoid valve next to the turbo which allows vacuum through to the actuator to move the nozzle & set the boost. The pipe to mine was rubbed to death. Same setup actuates the EGR valve, so worth blocking that pipe off if you've blocked/removed the EGR otherwise it'll be leaking vacuum off and potentially affecting the turbo actuator operation.
