steve200TDi
Hi, I have a Blue 200TDi 90 with a new steering box (with Discovery drop arm) which uses normal ATF and a Red TD5 with a slightly leaky steering box which uses the fancy Land Rover stuff. My question is are the two oil compatible? Can I fit my new steering box to the TD5 and refill it with normal PAS ATF fluid? Is the TD5 pas pump going to like it? Your thoughts please. Thanks Steve
western
both use the same spec ATF in the PAS system, LR recommend ATF Dexron IID or III
steve200TDi
Ok, maybe I was think of Discovery TD5's as I think they use the different fluid. Well great, I'll swap them over! Thanks Steve
western
Td5 Disco 2 PAS LR recommend Texaco cold climate PAS fluid 14315, so my RAVE cd tells me.
Guest
I have just refilled mine with Land Rover cold climate PAS fluid ( STC50519 ) Jason.
rick
Texaco Cold Climate fluid definately works better than the average Dex II/III atf fluid and was the factory fill on TD5's (my very late '98 Tdi had it from new too) Less to no groan/squark/noise with the semi-syn ACE/PAS fluid vs too much noise and inconsistent feel with the Fuchs ATF 3000 (or was it 4000?) I tried. Exxy (good) syn fluids like Castrol Transmax Z work well too.
