welshsurferdude
Hi all I have purchased a 2002 LM146 trailer the day before and It has old narrow 12" rims with an illegal spare and a tyre that lost its tread on the way home running empty on the motorway. I will be using this trailer to tow a winch comp 90 long distances so id like to get some good tyres ive been told its best to get wider tyres on 13" rims??? the ones we use at work on x3 2007 ifor 16 foot trailers are on 12" rims and 185/80r12c but i have been told 13" rims with 195.70.R13 tyres are better? Whats the forums opinion? Many thanks Kenny
dirtydiesel
195/70 r13 Avon trailer. Massively reinforced outer sidewall, and don't seem to pick up punctures. I'm on my 3rd full set on my bateson, pretty much fit and forget. The only thing I've come across is they crown with age.
Chris Davies
195/50/13 on my 2001ish IW LM146 Cheers Chris
dirtydiesel
The 195/50 13 seem to pick up a lot of punctures, one of my customers is in every month or so on the 50 profiles, where as I haven't had a puncture since 2007 and I think I only punctured then because I had run them low on tread. bluespanner
I run 185/60r12 on my CT166 and they are forever going deformed or flat. I'll fit 13s when I can afford.

I can certainly say that I have had to replace a few tyres on the 2 trailers that I have had, which had picked up punctures (before I owned them) and had them poorly repaired so I replaced to be on the safe side. mikec
I've got 12" rims on mine, the place where I used to work had the 13's on theirs. I think although the 12's are narrower they have quite a higher profile and so less pinch flats.
