Gaz13
Hi has anybody fitted the Tdci Heater matrix and blower housing to a RHD 300tdi / Td5 bulkhead, could it be do-able. Gaz.
western
totally different unit to the previous models, it sits in the dash area not in the engine bay. http://lrcat.com/#30/4/44978 compare to the pre Tdci unit
mikec
I looked at these on eBay and concluded they fitted in the same position? Though I could well be, and usually am wrong :
Retroanaconda
They're partly internal to the vehicle, like most modern cars:
mikec
Ah ok, the motor itself, is that external or not? It's hard to tell from that photo
Retroanaconda
It might be, I'm not sure. There is a large black round-ish thing in the engine bay where the heater used to be on older models, that may or may not be a blower. I'm afraid I don't own a Tdci to check. western
the blower shown here http://www.numcat.ru...ver/p/30/44978/ the heater matrix & ducts shown here http://www.numcat.ru...ver/p/30/44980/ air intake here http://www.numcat.ru/landrover/p/30/44979/
Retroanaconda
Ah, so the blower is mounted externally, on top of the passenger footwell as per previous models. And then the matrix is internal as per modern vehicles. So in answer to Gaz's original question - I doubt it would be doable without fitting the whole Tdci dash as well. western
just looking at this page, http://www.numcat.ru/landrover/p/30/44977/ I'm thinking parts 3 & 6 could be used on older models suitable modified to obtain side window demisting. maybe a 2013 project. Retroanaconda
Certainly could Ralph, the only issue would be the size of the outlets. The square grilles on ends of the Tdci dash are quite large, about 2" x 2" I'd say. And there's just not enough space in the ends of the older dash to accommodate them. Especially on the driver's side with all the levers and whatnot. I knocked my own system up with some 1" pipe and round outlets: http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/2011/11/defender-side-window-demisters/
