SteveG
Hi Donald I bought mine a couple months ago, so I don't have experience of earlier versions, so my comment only refers to what is currently available. Cheers Steve
tacr2man
The nut and bolt method works fine for just the odd one or two, it was even mentioned in the the instructions that come with the original landrover winch , mind you thats a few years ago now
mikec
Have a look in my bulkhead thread in the members vehicles forum. I did the exact same rivnuts as you want to do using a bolt and plate etc. I was sceptical but it did work
ejparrott
Thing is while it may be expensive to buy a decent tool just to do a handful now you never know when you might need to call on the tool again in the future Very true....finding more and more uses for mine as time goes by... ejparrott
...and finally killed it.....the pull shaft has belled over in the recess where the handle pulls it......might be able to salvage it, but I highly doubt it.... Anyone used one of these Kobe attachments? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RIVET-NUT-DRILL-TOOL-M4-M5-M6-RIVET-NUTS-RIVNUT-/230796271868
FridgeFreezer
Worth noting (if it hasn't already been mentioned) that RS sell the mandrels separately for £surprisingly reasonable - mostly around the £7 mark: Try part #165-532 (M8), 165-526 (M6), 165-453 (M5), 165-431 (M4). That drill tool looks like a quick way to a lot of trouble!
ejparrott
I don't know....my Cromwell book says it whats industry is using....but then they would say that!
