Quick 200tdi question

Recommended Posts

you can get away without one, but why?

if you work it hard, without an oil cooler you will get high EGT's which aint really too good for the engine, im running with the cooler blanked off for now as my filter housing broke, and i swapped it for a series engine filter and housing. but its not ideal for how much i work it. and youve gotta think.. if it didnt really need one, why did Land Rover put one in? okay, they tested them in pretty extreme conditions, but nothing that couldnt be achieved by one of us..

p.s. i take it this is for some kind of engine conversion?

the hose will have to be removed & the ports on oil filter head blanked too, removing or leaving the oil stat won't make any difference

With the ports blanked you are correct that it wont make any difference when the oil is not hot. But when its hot and the stat opens to divert the oil thro the cooler because it has been blanked off will mean that the oil flow to the engine bearings will stop or be very very reduced, result one toast engine.

but if the oil cooler is removed, there's no need for the oil stat or hoses from oil filter head to oil cooler
