Leeh1306
hi guys, ive had **** performance and fuel consumption for a while now but driving home today luckily only about 3 miles from home. i had a knocking noise and steam from under the bonnet pulled in the lay bye and there was oil, smoke, fuel all down the back of the engine. i add though the temp gauge stayed in the normal zone. i whipped the engine cover off and number 1 injector is stood proud about 2 inches! one stud had sheered and one stud from what i can see has pulled out the head. Anybody else had something similar at all? its too dark and wet to get on it now but was wondering if it had happened due to excessive pressure in the cylinder due to the head going? Im hoping i can just renew the studs refit the injector with a new copper washer etc and its going to purr back to life??? Any comments gratefully received. cheers lee
EggNChips
Had it happen to me and just refitted injector and all ok. Doesn't explain the oil tho? Does sound like the engine may have hydraulic'd on engine oil. Check the crankcase breather filter and make sure it's not blocked.

EggNChips
You can buy the complete set from BMW, just tell them it's from a 2001MY 320D, think they were about £16 for the set. They're probably available from LandRover dealers as well, but the BMW dealer is closer to me.
