Sounds like the carb may be blocked, was it new or secondhand? Would be worth checking a fuel line isn't loose and drawing air in also.

Harry

edit: just seen you said new- did you fit it in a dirty environment?

Drawing air or fuel starvation? We had a Bombadier with a Rotax lump in it and it was a whoore of a thing for the fuel starvation if used on full chat for more than a few feet, fitted an electric fuel pump and problem solved, might be totally different for yours though!!

Normally the float is fixed to a 'hinge' and it's just a case of bending this hinge, which then dictates at what volume of fuel the supply is cut off. What you need to know is what this height should be (setting) for your carb.

Different carbs may have different methods for adjusting the float height, but in my limited experiance the above is the norm.

There will most likely be a drain screw, probably with a pipe on the float chamber. Place a jam jar under the run-off pipe and open the drain screw; fuel should run out at a good pace, filling the jam jar within a minute or so. If not, there is some obstruction to fuel entering the float chamber - check out the fuel filter, fuel pump, look for kinked pipes or some foreign matter in the carb fuel intake or in the float valve.
