Barnzee 300Tdi
I have recently acquired a box trailer, but unfortunatly one of the tyres has a puncture. I am looking to get the tyre changed but i'm getting confused with the tyre size and can't find replacements anywhere. On the tyre side wall all I can see is 145SR13 74S Any help with where I can get tyres for this wheel from or an equivalent tyre size? Many Thanks Tony
ejparrott
There's a trailer place in Banbury may be able to help, and I also use the ebay trader 'towing and trailers' for trailer queries......don't know enough to tell you if that's a genuine trailer tyre. Landowner
If you dont carry any weight then just go for 145 sr 13, if you carry weight then get the van rated tyres as they have stronger sidewalls, I think thats what the 74S might be not sure though. I've got 145 SR13 part worns on my trailer and they have been ok I changed the 145 Sr 13's that were on my tilt bed car trailer for some 13" low profiles and they have been great as the walls dont flex as much when its heavy
mickeyw
74 is the weight rating, and max 375kg in this case, per tyre. S is the speed rating max 113 mph, and which hopefully you won't be doing with a trailer See here http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyrspeed.html And here http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyreload.html

Barnzee 300Tdi
Thanks for the info. Was interesting towing it home earlier stopping a few times to pump it up. Thanks for the links too :-)
nicksmelly
The tyres on a trailer must have a greater load carrying capacity than the GTW / plated weight of the trailer. You face penalty points if stopped and checked and have under rated tyres.
Cynic-al
My theory with trailer tyres is go for the highest load you can get. They get abused so much I like to have a good margin. I got mine from my local tyre place that does cars, agri, commercial etc, 8-ply and something like 1100kg per tyre from memory. They were only about £40 a tyre fitted
