ehayashi300
I’m looking for a new multimeter that will last me a few years and was after some advice. I like Fluke’s range and have this one in mind: http://www.newark.com/fluke/fluke-117/multimeter-digital-handheld/dp/83K1721 I think it does everything I need, but just wanted to check there’s no point looking further up the range? I’m primarily going to be using it for tinkering with Arduino kits, audio amps etc. I was originally trying to stick to a $200 budget… Is there any point shelling out more for a high precision device just in case I need one down line? Fancier alternatives include: Fluke 177 Fluke 87-5 Thanks Edward
nicksmelly
I have several Fluke meters, but I also have a Tenma meter from CPC which cost a quarter of the price of the cheapest Fluke I have. It's just as good, and feels very well made. I've used it most days for the past 18 months and not had a problem. http://cpc.farnell.com/tenma/72-7745/digital-multimeter-trms/dp/IN04419
simonr
Buy a used Fluke meter on eBay. I have a Fluke 79 which I've had for 24 years and its still as good now (other than looking a bit battered and well used). Si
roguevogue
I'm with Si on this one. A good friend of mine sourced a used Fluke as a birthday present. It is easily the best meter I have used.
CwazyWabbit
Battered old Fluke 77 here Has to be at least 20 years old, probably more and just keeps on going. The display reacts and stabilises faster than cheaper meters I've tried.
