Q from me man flu infested death bed

Recommended Posts

Gawd I have something of a cold and a half,

Sunday Night back from Donnington, came over with shakes shivers + cough from hell, and sick as a sick parrot.

Monday = bed, and today I'm barely sub human (yes v funny too obvious don't start :P )

Amazing considering I'm on amoxicyline for chest infelction all ready, I have so many ferkin tabs in me if I fell down

the stairs I'd sound like a Spainish Cerackers being shaken...

Anyway, whilst 'whatever' works its magic through my system ....

I have bought a 'Mud stuff' new off the production line Truck cab roof lining thingy, that just gives me storage and

coverage at the front end of the truck cab. Got it at a show price (where is that "My Life already" smilee  ) and

the fact it looks superb,

Now the Q is that they suggest fitting it as it is designed over a std fitted 90 headlinning.

Had one... killed one,

Mix of mud and Steam cleaner, so I was thinking of just fitting to the bare roof and modifying as needed,

But it will still be like driving in a biscuit tin (OK a nice and quick 5.2 V8 biscuit tin) so was wondering of options ?

I need to maybe "Stick" something on the roof that is pressure washable, and that mud and carp will not soak into and destroy

Surfing from my gurgle pit of snot : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280948058740?var=580127780692&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 seems maybe top of the list ? (I am at the moment fine for "Adhesive" :D ) but, any better ideas ?

Carpet - even marine stuff (tried in the old Hybrid From hell) sort of holds water and fluffs up when pressurewashed, so any better ideas ?

And Now, a nice double whiskey & Nightnurse (green liquid stylee) for moi :D

Nige

I'm looking at one of the Mud thingys. Let us know how you fix it to the roof., I don't have roof linning ether did think about having brackets welded to roof.

I sprayed 3 cans of Raptor coating onto the bottom of my 110 tub last night. I'm hoping it does not dry like Wayoyl. I'll report back..

I was thinking along the same lines!

Much more comic potential than a traditional headlining!

The thought of Nigel spraying black sticky stuff, particularly while suffering from the flu put me in mind of this....

Nigel, I think whoever gave you the flu, also shared it with me! I have the heating in my office wound up to 28C - and I'm still shivering! Too much to do to take a day off though!

Okay, last nights Raptor application is dry and not 'waxy'. It comes in Schutz bottles with a seperate hardner that you add before spraying.easy to do, nice finish. I've sprayed it on over Flashband and it looks good, well chuffed.

I have thought about spray on stuff, but need more for soundproofing and antibooming

(plus in my current state I could just sit in there and hack away :D DIY lining done

- there sleep with that thought  )

Closed cell is good, but falls apart on heavy pressure washing, been there tried that on the Hybrid

Marine carpet is waterproof, but fluffs up on being pressure wahsed and is tricky to clean

(tried that on the hybrid too)

So, thoughts were either just a plain rubber liner stuck on, or as post a slightly patterned one so it looks a tad

better than having a and ex porn stars rubber bedsheet superglued up and on to yer roof ?

Any more ideas than nothing vs so far ?

I would have thought Flashband is better than gluing on rubber mat. With some heat from a hot air gun it's easy to mould and sticks like poo to a blanket. I've double layered it under the tub, edges sealed down with Tigerseal (belt and braces), then Raptored it.

Flashband is a foil backed tar sheet which is used to repair flashing on buildings. Comes in rolls of various widths and lengths from DIY stores or the Bay of E. The plastic backing is peeled off then the sheet is applied.

Quite a few folk on here have used it.

any risk with flashband if it gets hot? will it go melty and fall off or is it flammable? I'm thinking about it for mine

I've used flashband to line floor and transmission tunnel - sticking it underneath so it's hidden - great for soundproofing and no it doesn't drop off when it gets warm, if anything it helps it stick more...

Anyone stuck a blowtorch to some to see if it burns? Although if the inside of HFH's roof got that hot I think he'd have more pressing concerns on his mind .....

Spray on flock, had some on the headlining of my boat, had a very even coarse velvet type finish.

Removed when about 30 years old, it had gone a dirty brown.

Took 4 days to remove with a steamer and scraper.

Don't know if you can get it these days, but you can still buy flock wallpaper so the process must be available somewhere!

Here you go - http://www.banburyflockingservices.com

They do a nice shocking pink Nige!
