zim
Hi, I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how a landrover free wheeling hub engages. I know you turn the knob to lock the dog clutch. But what is actually going on behind that ? How do they return when you turn the knob back ? Is the dog clutch spring loaded to unlock ? What i'm really asking is could you activate it from the outside using an air ram if the knob was removed and parts machined to fit a ram ? This would be used in a winch setup. Are there any links to eploded diagrams for the different models around ? I've had a look on google but can't find. Cheers Gordon
Bowie69
G, If you want an air operated FWH, then look at the Suzuki Jimny, save you messing about trying to convert one with a ram? They are vacuum operated, but I guess you have a vacuum source somewhere But basically, yes they have a spring to unlock from memory when I took one apart last. There's a Suzuki manual hub exploded here: http://www.shropshire-suzuki.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=13326
zim
Thanks for the suggestion. The beauty about the landrover hub is the splines etc match up to everything else. G
