B reg 90
I recently got to see a King shocks stand at an off road event. I took some pictures of the display and thought that they would be useful tech for the forum. Mods - If I have put this in the wrong section feel free to move. See through remote resovior shock: You can clearly see the oil and nitrogen gass seperated by the piston in the remote resovoir. Cross section of shock body showing the internals of a bypass tube: This is compression bypass as the little valve in the bypass only lets oil from the top to the bottom, i.e. opens as the piston rises/shock compresses. Altering the spring loading on the spring adjusts the pressure the little PTFE valve opens at and hence adjusts the damping that occurs as the piston passes between the top and bottom ports. Compression Valving/Shims: As the shock compresses the oil flows through the piston and has to push the circular shim stack down wards. The stiffer the shims the less they are moved by the oil flow, resulting in lower flow rates, therefore more damping. Rebound Valving/Shims: Works the same as the compression shims. And finally a bloody massive bypass shock - note the budwieser can..... Feel free to comment if you have better descriptions on the operation etc. Adrian
o_teunico
Very nice pics! I have recently discovered a page with lots of cutaway devices, including a Disco 3 electronic diff. http://www.cutawaycreations.com/category.php
