qwakers
disco 1 again. where can i pick up a live feed that is live ONLY when the engine is running? i want to have a SPDT switch on my split charging system, pos 1, normal (only activates relay when engine running) pos 2 perm live, so can use my split charge batt as a booster batt if my main bat for any reason goes flat and pos3 off, completely isolates the 2nd batt. any ideas? Orgasmic Farmer
I think you can use the wire from the alternator to the charge light. Isn't that why Si suggests using it on his X-charge split charge set up? http://www.x-eng.co.uk/instructions/new/x-Charge.pdf

mmgemini
Do not use the alternator warning light to trigger a split charge system. Certain alternators especially the Discovery 100Amp one do not like it.
qwakers
i didnt in the end. there are two circuits on the alternator that is fitted that are live only when engine running. one is warning light the other had nothing connected. i came off that. works fine.
