mikec
The back axle I bought seems a little rusty, so thinking of replacing it, and advice what to replace with, so far seen Steve Parkers one and gwyn Lewis's, obviously there's the standard replacement too, it has a qt guard on anyway, so should I save some cash and get standard? landroversforever
Other people have used pipe caps too. I have QT guards, and whilst they are good.... if they hadn't come on the car I'd have replaced the pan with something stouter as the guard can be deflected. mikec
Yeah I'd seen the thread about pipe caps but it never said where to get them from, plus to be honest I'm short on time as it is without making a pan up :

zim
Gwyns are spot on Not worth the hassle of making your own to be honest.
landroversforever
Well from that consensus, I'll go for Gwyn's 'pans when I do mine in the future.
Hybrid_From_Hell
I found a set of land cruiser axles, the diff pans fitted my axles a treat and are 10mm thick ! Also a short nose diff pan is around 8mm thick, plasma off and weld on, these casings are often availble scrap bins in 4x4 places as little call for them ! Just a cheap thought !
