miketomcat
Obviously because I can't have a moments peace the radiator has sprung a weep. It looks like it's in the vicinity of the repair I did so I need to have a look at that. Mike 1

I repaired it but struggled to stop the solder just running through. This time I'm going to apply the solder on the inside. Last I checked getting it rebuilt was about the same price as buying a new one. Don't forget it's my daily. Nonimouse
It's about 150 quid Try liquid metal rather than solder

Bowie69
Any of those two part epoxy tubes of repair 'filler' are brilliant these days, the sort of thing you see sitting on the counter in the motor factors.
miketomcat
But I have solder at home, so a no money fix. 😜 Mike
jason110
Have you tried Belzona? We use it in anything remotely metallic at work and it sticks like carp.
Popular Post miketomcat
Radiator is repaired and seams to be holding up. Towed the trailer up to the thruxton historic race weekend. Had a great couple of days away and got to take the ibex round the circuit. Mike

As for lap time we won't go there as we ended up at a standstill on the back straight due to the exit being right after the chicane. There was a guy in a white Lotus who had parked on the bank behind another Lotus and his handbrake wasn't up to the job so he was sat there with his foot hard on the brake pedal. Couldn't back up as his tyres were just spinning on the grass and the owner of the car in front wasn't there. I did walk over to the Shire stand on his behalf to try and find somebody with a functioning handbrake and a winch, but it was like the Mary Celeste. Anyway, half an hour later the owner of the car in front had returned and moved it so he could drive out and park somewhere flatter.
miketomcat
Shame we didn't catch you. I'm guessing that was Saturday as we were on the stand most of Sunday. Mike

Mike Just has a 300tdi rad recore by the place I use and it was £288 for reference. So in a daily yes a new rad might not be far off that
Daan
I have the aluminum core with the plastic tanks radiator, and that has been completely reliable so far. I guess the production process is now so well understood that it is the most reliable way of producing a radiator. I certainly have no hesitation using these.
Bowie69
vs a 288 quid recore charge I think I'd agree with you Daan.
