tweetyduck
Why did I only get 7 or 8 litres of coolant back into my defender ? I thought i drained it well from the bottom hose. I used rad flush and now I'm worried theres some left in when i refilled with Prestone ? Any suggestions ?
Frax
There will still be water in your heater as the hoses enter at the top.
tweetyduck
Should I have black flushed the heater with fresh water to remove all the rad flush? I get the feeling I'm going to have to start again and buy more prestone.....
dailysleaze
There will be some in the engine bock unless you have drained this via the plug on the left hand side of the engine
tweetyduck
didn't even know there was one. Where is it exactly ? I think i might just do it again and this time flush into the heater from the rear connection and then from the front with the opposing pipe connected. I'll let the water come out via the top of the rad. At least then i know the system is full of clean water. I will then drain by the botton hose on put in ~7 liters of concentrate whcih will them make it full. The prestone goes from 50:50 to 70:30 so all is good with ~7 litres. Another £14 wasted...... dailysleaze
Follow the dipstick pipe down and it will be just below the large core plug on the block. 10mm i think. Will need to be replace with a bit of sealant.
