landroversforever
Has anyone on here got the full size allisport intercooler on their car? Anyone managed to squeeze one in with a tight fitting winch? I have about 10" from the top of the grill down to the top of the winch, and it sits back about 2.5-3" into the grille. As I have a 200tdi with no viscous fan, I also have the option to move the radiator back, has anyone done this?
Maverik
Not a 200tdi, but I know of a 300tdi that the person in question had mounted a full front intercooler from a volvo, moved the rad back etc. went quite well, but was quite a bit of customisaiton needed, especially with the pipework... landroversforever
There are a few different options with the IC... Hadn't heard of a volvo one but seen plenty of people using Ford ones. Pipework isn't a problem, the current set-up isn't ideal as the current IC is a front mount (extended P38 one) and the pipes are either end not both at one end. Any pictures of the modified rad mounts? I would want to make mine without modifying the lower mounts on the galv chassis.
TSD
My 200tdi has a large Allisport intercooler fitted by the previous owner. It's a snug fit behind my X9 winch, but it does fit. I'll try to take some pics later on.
landroversforever
Thanks TSD. Is that on the ibex though?
Les Brock
As discussed mine went back to give me enough room and I still have the viscous fan fitted ( after having a bad experience with an Electric one)

landroversforever
Ah ok I'll get some pics tomorrow It's allll your fault thank you! I presume your grill-line with the tube wings is in the same place as standard wings.
TSD
Thanks TSD. Is that on the ibex though? No, got a 200tdi Defender in the fleet (everyone needs a parts getter ) ... besides, the Ibex doesn't need to have a winch hanging out the front Got a bit distracted to take pics today, but found this in my collection... Does that pic help at all? Any questions I'll try to answer them. Edit - Should have mentioned my X9 sits hard up against the plastic radiator grille, but not through it, so not as tight as yours by the sound of it. landroversforever
That is useful . Thanks. Yeah, my middle part of the grille surround is chopped out and the grille is trimmed round the winch. Do you have any detailed pictures of the mountings? I'm wondering how easy it would be to shuffle the whole cooling pack back ~2.5-3". Does the IC mount to the Rad? or separately?
