TheBeastie
Recently my window would not close properly but eventually managed to, then it jammed permanently closed - only occasionally a problem but probably best to fix! I took door trim off and the mechanism seems solid. If I use screwdriver as a lever at the top of the cross arms of the mechanism and push them down then it seems to "jump" back onto the winder mechanism and work fine but as soon as I closed it properly again same problem. Released it and coated stuff with WD40 but to no real avail. Seems silly to go with door trim off and a screwdriver to hand lest I need to open window so wondering if there is an easy solution. Loathe to spend too much since the door itself is rusted uo to b*gg*ry and there are precious few clips left on the door trim, so fix it or would I be better getting a new door? If a new door is it likely to come with all the bits or would I transfer stuff off the old door? Any thoughts most appreciated Thanks Malcy
western
bits need to be moved to a new door, the winder mechanism does give up, had to change one of mine a few years ago.
TheBeastie
Is this what I need? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LANDROVER-DEFENDER-WINDOW-90-110-REGULATOR-WINDER-NEW-/220621736834?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item335e148b82 And if so is it easy to fit? western
that the winder mechanism, you need to position & wedge the glass part way down, then remove the steel panel & old winder, it's not a difficult job, just a bit time consuming to get the new winder in place. dave88sw
I'd just buy a good second hand door, complete if i were you. Would certainly be the cheaper option if you can find a good one
