Had a mate ask a Q

1 Where can he buy a adapter kit for a 5.7 350 CI V8 Chevy engine to either a ZF Auto or torqueflite RR 3 speed auto box

2 Using LT230 is there any other options for Chev 350 to fit to another gearbox to Lt230

3 Do the later 350 have EFI and is the loom seperate / how tricky to run up, and which models to go for / year

as Velar said, marks4wd in australia does adaptors.

you might also find Mez useful too.

Forgot to add:

1. the word on the street is that a normal Range rover box won't take the Torque from an SBC- a ZF24 will only take a nominal 320lb/ft which is usually more than a SBC will make in standard tune. you really need a Yank box- TH400 or a 700R4 is about what you need. a Torqueflight "might" take the torque as they are stronger.

2. You can link the yank boxes to an LT230 by using a short drive shaft- Eliot (Mez) has done this as have a few others and it works a treat. The other option os to but a Atlas T-box from the US and just accept that you are going to need custom props

3. Some late 350s had EFI, and all LSx models have efi (AFAIK)- you will get a more accurate answer to this on the Cobraclub website as they often deal with SBC. You are much better off scrapping the loom and ECU and fitting Megasquirt- too many of the stock ECUs need extra sensors, or have controllers for things like gearboxes. They are almost totally impossible to get repaired in the US- at least that was my experience.

1) B&H services in basingstoke used to do adapter plates, and as far as i know the 350 chev will bolt straight up to the torqueflight.

2) Advanced adapters do a conversion for th350 to lt230

3) They are out there but i've not come across them before, there are a few after market injection systems but they're a little pricey.

Been playing with a marinised chevvy 350 for most of the summer (damned thing kept breaking). Had a really smart injection thing on the top...made by PCM I think.

Felt it could have been made a bit better tho - rated at 330 horses, with a 3" throttle body and miniscule air filter....bet it would make 360 if that was sorted out.

an SBC one AL? auto or proper gearbox?

remember its Tuesday by the way ;)

Aw carp - that sure comes around fast... :(

Hell, I'm off to The Hague in a minute, so won't be around to be led into making a Rodney of myself... :P

Er... Yeah - it's an SBC bellhousing. Mates to 'proper' of course - how dare you suggest anything less!? I can even find out WHICH box it mates to (have the info somewhere). It's something old and American, so useless (4 spd too I think) - but as a slice of aluminium, it is ripe for 'alteration' with minimal hassle.
