coachman
After my initiation at Tong I thought I had better change a few fluids ( as well as the keks .) The bottles are full of axle contents the lighter colour is from back axle the darker one is from the front . The back axle breather is lower than the front and I think the back induced a lot of water . So either extend your breathers or keep out . mickeyw
Yowwwch! That could have got expensive. Good thing you checked. Don't forget about the timing case drain plug to fit (assuming it's a Tdi), and the clutch housing has one too. There is a remote breather kit I believe for the timing case that means you can leave the plug fitted, although it's a good idea to drain any fluids after a wading session. I think I'd be checking the engine and gearbox/transfer box oils too. The transmission has breather pipes that terminate next to the front axle one IIRC. Team Idris
And the swivels There were folks saying that they could wade up to the bonnet because of breathers. But the brakes vent air to break the vacuum assist, so touching the pedal lets water in.
