highlandmist Posted April 24, 2013 Share Posted April 24, 2013 One of the items on the MOT rust list was an area close to the steering column mounting. After removing two of the column mounting bolts I realise that they were in fact mounted into something more solid. I removed the rusty metal and found a much thicker rail inside, a wee bit rusty but by no means severely corroded. Now I'm wondering whether just to weld a patch over, rivet a patch over, or indeed just hammerite the recess area in order to show the MOT man that there is in fact a decent mounting point there.
