skauldy
Hi Folks, I'm hopefully near to starting a 4.6 Gems conversion into my defender 90. I'm collecting all the bits I need at the moment. I have the 4.6 engine with engine loom plus ecu. what other parts do I need from the donor or off the shelf to get the engine running in my defender. Any help would be great, Thanks Shane. Hybrid_From_Hell
OK This is NOT a Rip out of a 4x4 and pop into your truck connect a few wires and away you go job I belive this runs a CANBUS system with multiple inputs from all sorts, leave some of these inputs out and it either won't start 10AS for example or run like a bag of carp Its not impossible, there was someone on D4x4 forum who "Cracked" the ECUs so they would run stand alaone, but then if your cat / non cat you have to pop a EPROM in the ECU and have it reset etc As I said, not impossible, but not like a 3.9V8 where 3 wires connected change of tune resisitor and away you go ! skauldy
Thanks for the replies guys and honest answers. I was thinking of going the MS route but seen a few good arguments for sticking with the GEMS but unfortuntatly they never explained how to get it working. Thanks for the link to the gems will read it in work tomo. Should kill the 8 hour wait to get home .
