td5 ecu

Recommended Posts

Hallo everybody

I run a TD5 M.Y.2000 with a tuned ecu 150hp and 360 Nm,the turbo press.is set at 1.3bar with the actuator rod length, but when accellerating the turbo press passes

slightly the 1.3 setting,at 1.35 the engine starts to misfire. The MAP sensor is new and the range of the sensor goes up to 2.5 bar (MHK100640)(BOSCH 0.281.002.205)

I think there is a limiting setting in the software to protect the engine. Is this correct?? and if so is it possible to change that setting,(1.5 bar)???

Is there somebody who knows more about this subject ??

I believe there is a fuel cut around 19psi which is ~1.3bar.

In other cars the remap would typically raise this limiter, but from what i can tell on the TD5 engine this doesnt get/cant be raised. The tuners seem to fit "boost boxes" which afaik are not much more than zener diodes connected in line with the MAP sensor, which stops the ECU tripping the 1.3bar limit.

Also, the sensor upper limit is 2.5bar, however this includes atmospheric pressure. IE it can only read 1.5bar of boost maximum.

Mine has the BAS boost box which works well regarding boost pressure BUT as I run a VNT it still trips out under max throttle, it doesn't do it if I unplug the the MAF sensor. I believe it pulls too much air for the sensor to measure which then trips out causing the fuel cut ( feels a bit like a rev limiter) diagnostics show too high ambient pressure logged.

hallo everybody

Thanks very much for the fast respons. To avoid the misfires I lowered the setting of the waste gate at 1.2 bar instead of 1.3.

The turbo is still the orriginal one. Some times I recieve the message "overboosting" but not always.(nanocom evo).

I think I will contact an automotive software programmer to ask what he can do about this problem.(he downtuned our IVECO Daily's

in a special way).Last visit we talked about tuning the TD5 and the possible problems, maybe he can do something about it.

Normally I dont need the max power but when towing my caravan in the ardennes your lucky with every hp and Nm under the trottlepedal.
