Fuel Pump

Hi all,I am driving a 05 freelander td4 with 140k in Ireland,on Friday morning it wouldn't start it was turning fine wouldn't fire up so I came on here and read that it could be the pump and if I tapped it that it would start,so I got a wrench and tapped the pump and sure enough it fired up.It has been going ok since took it for a few short trips and all seems to be ok. My question is that is my pump on the way out and how long can I keep driving it like this ? I have no warning lights on the dash and the landy seems to be driving fine.Any help would be greately appreciated. If it is the pump would a pump from the earlier models suit its the one bolted onto the rear chasis drivers side ? Thanks in advance,

I drove mine like that for maybe a week or two, but as defv890 says it could conk at any moment and leave you stranded, so not really worth gambling on. Sods law dictates it will conk out at exactly the wrong moment too!
