Dave09
Hello. My rear main seal started leaking today so I will be changing it tomorrow Q1. What is the torque setting for the fly wheel bolts and are they reusable? Q2. Any tips for doing the job? Thanks Dave
Maverik
Tips: Buy 2 seals just incase you mess the first installation up... ( I did) 200tdi is not that easy, I've heard the 300tdi's are easier to do. It pays to use a named manufacturer for this oil seal. When re-aligning your clutch plate, use a (13mm? can't remeber might be bigger) socket on an extension bar to center the clutch plate after installation. The flywheel bolts are very tight... I remeber all my torque wrenches didn;t go up to what it needed, so I just used a big breaker bar with an extension and did them up mega tight, with a good blob of threadlock. (and i reused mine) they'll be a high tensile grade 10 or 12, unless damaged or rusty they should be fine to use again... Thats about it from what I can remeber last time I did one... CwazyWabbit
Undoing them is a bugger, use a good rattle gun if you have one otherwise you need to find some way of stopping the engine from turning over. 300 tdi seal is quite easy to fit as it has a former in place. Mo Murphy
300 flywheel bolts are single use and should be replaced.
