X-Pedal - Fitting Report

Hi All,

Now the 90 is working yeah yeah yeah I have decided to add a bit of security to the 90 and give myself a bit of peace of mind

I have seen X_Engs X-Pedal both at Billing and Donnington, and decided that for what it is, the neatness of the unit, the fact its a fixture and not a Lump that you have to ensure won't come and find you bouncing around off road, and that its easy to use meant I ended up with one for the 90

Today saw me fitting it, Job done in about 1.5 hrs, as I had to modify it.

But fitting for most will be easy, you don't need much, I would suggest

Cordless / Drill 8.5mm Drill spanner and Allen Key and thats about it.

Once you have removed the hinged Stainless assembly, the big box has a few bit left to be sorted

The 1st thing you need to do is assemble the lock, not as easy as I thought, and the instructions whilst good made me hmm and err for a while, so here are some pics as to what it looks like assembly wise and what goes where

All the nuts bolts and washers etc you need are supplied.

Having sorted the lock out positioning is everything, now, mine is a Factory V8 90 and has a LT85 gearbox, and the tunnell is wider and differing shape than 200 300 etc, so I had to do a tad of trimming, nothing much just for clearance on the centre side and rear, otherwise it wouldn't sit flat

Trimmed it was relined up, which is well worth taking time over, I use a marker pen as a guide and check rechecked and then drilled 2 x holes

Having got it all in place re-checking the positioning was OK, so rest of the holes drilled and bolted up tight, and the clasp fitted

which keeps the rear plate in place.

I also decided to try reshaping the floor mat with a scalpel, I like the floor matting as it helps with anti slipping feet

when full of mud and water ...so chopped away and refitting on top, this done........... I wondered.

Unclip, lift forward and slam - Yup not need to remove matting

So, what are my thoughts now I have one ? is it worth it ?

A resounding "Yes"

Worth every penny IMHO - and I am delighted to have stopped fannying about got on and fitted it

In fact I would go as far as saying if you value your 90 / 110 then you should have one fitted,

Thanks for the write-up. On mine, and most others, it's fitted about 15mm further to the right than yours. I wonder if your brake pedal is in a slightly different place to later ones? Fitted further to the right, it doesn't need trimming.

Rather than have to keep lifting up the rubber mat (you really need to do something about the rusty floor screws.....I'll get me coat) why not glue some rubber checker plate to the inner surface?

It could be as the bulkhead is different and tunnel diffferent etc

With it up in the "Locked" position the "U" is central on the pedal

Trimming might be me fitting it slightly inboards, or the oddities of a LT85, either way love it

They have security nuts that shear off when you get to sufficient torque. You won't get them off easily! Even if your truck is Hi-Abbed off your property, I expect the X-Pedal to cause some swearing by Mr T. Leaf.

I had to trim exactly the same spot on mine too. Its easy done... and voice the above, its suberb bit of security, will be getting one too for the Camel.

Mine's ready to go in. Just need to take angle grinder to the redundant bonnet catch bracket. Didn't think that the mat would go over the top though, interesting

I am surprised to hear you had difficulty fitting this Nige.

My truck is a 1986 factory fitted V8 too, and I had to make no mods at all.

Although I have swapped my LT85 tunnel for a 300tdi one (to fit with the auto box), the floor plates are exactly the same. The brake pedal is also original, apart from welding extra metal to the foot pad to match an auto pedal rubber.

I have to agree with Si's comment re fitting it 15mm further outboard. I'm sure the outer edge of mine covers the screws holding the floor plate to the sill channel.
