FridgeFreezer
I hope the Fraud 2.4 is better than whatever was in my last Trans(h)it, I've known gnats fart with more torque than that thing had Got a new Vivaro 1.9TDCi now, I think it has a VVT and I'm pretty sure I don't like it - it does go better than "normal" turbo but the engine is less predictable 'cos the turbo is never doing the same thing twice
reads90
I just have aproblem with tweaking and bosting a 200 TDi. After all it been 10 years since one left the Land Rover factory. So most of them will have 100,000 miles on them on near. i always thought doing it to a 60,000 truck would be ok but 100,000 plus then i think you are asking for trouble in the furture.Hence why i left my 200 TDi alone and changed other stuff BTW on the ford subject, Put it though a 4 wheel drive system and does not come up to much compaired to the 200 and 300 tdis. Also thought on the oposite what a 200 and 300 would be like in a transit. If the transit engine is not good in a Land Rover, or at least does not make it go as fast as a 300 TDi
GBMUD
we have one of these- and oh my word is it quick. It comes with a six speed box does 45mpg up the motorway when loaded and goes like stink. we took it to france recently and it hit the rev limiter in 6th at 131mph indicated on the Tomtom!!!!! Bathtub Pete has one of those too. He has had his chipped! OMFG! Chris

So, therefore we should be OK doing the turbo boost and fuelling without having to worry about old tired engines. Back to the possibility of going to a VVT, has anyone decided what would fit onto the 200TDi in place of the standard turbo? Just what IS the std turbo? a Garrett T4? What are the hybrid turbos that some seem to fit? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? (Obscure reference)

will_warne
I think tuning a Tdi is fine at most mileages as long as you regularly change the oil and filters and watch EGT. As Tony says, they are very good engines!

Aragorn
early escorts had t34's, later ones had t25's the t25 only refers to the core not its compressor or turbine sizes rs turbo and saph cossie both have t3's rs turbo's turbo will struggle at 150hp saph's tyrbo will make 300hp then series name tells u very little aboyt actual turbo capabilities

My dad had one of the big ones and when he bought it the 0-60 and top end is the same as a Jag E type. and it was good on fuel. 270,000 miles and it never missed a beat the body still looked like new as well. I did want to buy it off him to use as a survice truck but unfortunaly that was not possible
