A-Frame Balljoint Torque Settings

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the torque settings for the Rear A-Frame?

I've just installed it, looked in the RAVE manual and it seemed to suggest 130lb/ft for the bolts, however i've just tried tightening the two bolts that attach the A-Frame arms to the balljoint carrier to 130lbft and managed to strip the thread on one of the bolts, and i;ve probably ruined the other one too .

So clearly 130lbft is rubbish. I suspect the big bolts on the chassis end will take 130lbft, but the smaller ones on the carrier will not.

Does anyone know the correct figures for the three bolts on the A-Frame, ie Arms to chassis, arms to balljoint carrier, balljoint castle nut.

A frame arms rear end to ball joint carrier to 115nm

bracket to chassis 3 bolts per side to 47nm

A frame forward end to chassis bracket manual just says tighten, no torque load.

ball joint nut to 176nm & split pin.
