reads90
FF, I'd try neat Fairy Liquid, scrub, and slowely add hot water. Then use a vacuum cleaner with the earth disconnected to suck it up as you go. If that doesn't work try something like meths (or any other neat alcohol) and then repeat with Fairy. you f***ing ruff arse will

Steve H
brake cleaner What he said, plus some paper towels to soak it out after, you wouldn't know it'd been there. I did this on a wool carpet after dripping the after effects of an oil change up the stairs & into the lounge.(Don't ask) SWMBO wasn't well pleased but the brakecleaner saved the day B) Our carpet was wool with a jute backing. Don't know how it would go on synthetic stuff but it was recommended to me by a carpet installer who said to leave commercial cleaning products alone. Steve. FridgeFreezer
Well, just tried carb cleaner and it certainly shifts it, whether it's 100% gone I'll see in a minute but it makes a big difference. Pity I didn't see Ali's post before I tried it but hopefully it'll be OK... Ali - the carpet is el cheapo stuff from CarpetRite or somesuch, basically whatever we could find for no money that got rid of the stinking smokey stained carpet that was down when I moved in I'm guessing it's not going to be wool or anything like that... This is one of the oily blobs (no that's not my carpet): And this is a bit of my carpet after the carb cleaner has done its work: There is still a residue there, but it's 90% better than it was. Will leave that bit to the lodger when he gets home
