white90
I need to get some decent drill bits any suggestions/recommendations please Tony
Bull Bar Cowboy
Titanium coated HSS …………… not cheap, but they keep a good edge and can be used for reasonably hard materials. If you can sharpen drills yourself, then ordinary HSS are fine for most jobs especially if kept in tiptop condition. On the lathe I use cobalt drills B) ………… but they are spendy. Les Brock
Use the correct speed for what your trying to drill, trying to burn your way through on high speed does the drill edge no favours , let the tool do the work and use a decent cuttting fluid when drilling esp......stainless/8274 shafts etc Oh.....Colbalt are cracking drills

will_warne
Tony, as above, Colbolt are lovely but pricey. Unless I'm drilling something hard I tend to buy normal HSS drill bits and then sharpen when I need to. Good cutting fluid is also well worth buying. 3 in 1 oil is pretty good for everyday stuff but Molyslip cutting compound is the dogs dangely bits.
