MTDefender
Hi guys, I've got a Discovery TD5 and I'm planning on removing the body and turning it in to a 100" defender trayback using all the running gear and chassis from the disco TD5. Just wondered if anybody has done this before and what issues I'm likely to encounter? Areas I'm unsure of are removal of unrequired electrical systems for example air bag suspension, ace, alarm/immobiliser. Also not sure if the vehicle will need to retain the ABS system for future MOTs as it's going to be road legal using the original identity of the discovery. dirtyninety
Yes been done before, if you keep the loom intact its fairly simple. Alarm and immobiliser can be "turned off" via the ecu. I'd get rid of the rear air bags and ace as they're both super unreliable
RangeyRover
And I would make every effort to keep the abs but more specifically the traction control. I'm very impressed with the tc on my D2, which I wasn't expecting. With Ashcroft lsd I reckon it could be as good, if not better than full lockers
