Bobbed and caged RRC called The "JWH"

Now I know there are two of you.  The other one was working on the 80 at exactly the same time!

There is order in the universe though.  When it comes to working on my Land Rover, there is rarely more than half of me...

Well today both of me (according to Deep) have been working, started out by jet-washing the 80" from yesterdays shenanigans in a mixture of rain and snow, bl**dy cold, bl**dy wet and bl**dy awful!!

Then I turned my attention back to this and found a place for the fire extinguisher:

And then I tackled a job I had completely forgotten about during the build :angry2: Would've been much nicer to have done before sending it off to the painter, but forgot my plan completely..

The job was fitting a handlebar for the Co driver to hold on to, nothing worse than sitting in the passenger seat and having nowhere to put your hands, so I got creative:

POV from the passenger seat:

And finally I gave it a quick lick of paint. Going to fit rubber or foam handles to it:

I'm almost disappointed that's not the actual steering wheel, Soren

Very cool.

Suppose I could've done something with 2 sprockets and a chain.. ;)

Bang some ODI long neck grips on those bars søren, your co driver will love you for it and they're dirt cheap

They would be way to long as I've cut the ends (and the center) of the handlebar down. Think I'm going to fit the MX type

Pet peeve - it can't be a quad (four wheels) and a bike (two wheels) at the same time!

No more unlikely than there being two of me? :P

37"x13,5"-16" Discoverer STT's and on the pictures they are at 5 PSI at the front and 3,5 PSI at the back, giving me a contact patch of 30x30cm's on all 4 corners and a pressure of 2,25 kg's pr. cm2 A little less than me standing on both my feet :)

I like your emergency handbrake...

Well it was either that or the 80", so I choose the one that was easiest to get new wings for..

Them's some heavy old wheels....

Well yes and no, I expected worse, knowing that my 35" Krawlers was 2 kgs heavier on steel beadlocks its actually not bad. Large Wheels = heavy weight its a fact thats hard to get around. Atleast its weight added nice and low.

I know what you mean with the large=heavy! Mine at 57Kg a corner :o. But interestingly my Banded wolfs are lighter than the Raceline Ali wheels they use on the Gigglepin truck.

Yeah I've found that to be the case often as well. Ali Wheels often times being heavier than steelies. But of course they are often much more HD, the Modulars as I have on these are not strong in any way shape or form :D Had hoped to be able to use my lovely 16" wolfraces but the backspacing is just too far off :( Would require 60mm spacers :o

Excellent, then you can drive where your co-driver can stand :)

Where I can stand, my co driver is considerably lighter :D

Yeah, the backspacing on my wolf's isn't great, I've had to go 30mm spacers to get full lock. But another 10mm on top of that to be able to get full articulation without hitting the shocks. Not quite so bad because the banded wolfs are only about a 5mm offset I can get away with the big spacers.

Not really any better off sadly. My radius arm adaptor brackets push the link joint further back, so I've had to go 30mm spacers to clear that. And looking like another 10mm on top of that to get the tyre to clear the shock at full articulation. so 40mm spacers brings my total effective offset to -45mm :o:(

Not much left to do on this, so not really able to bring any savvy updates right now. Did buy and fit some HD steering rods but anybody can do that so not really picture worthy ;)

Did spend my day rearranging quite a bit though, and I now have my hoist/ramp in the other garage as it was annoying to have to drive over it every-time I had to use the pit, and I really don't need it when its sat on top of the pit, obviously :) So now I can actually lift the car up a bit higher and I have considerably more space around it. So next year when I plan to enter the JWH into some competition, servicing between races should be really nice and not get in the way of other projects parked in the more "Fabrication oriented" garage.

Finally some stuff done to this thing again! Been a long time, but thoroughly enjoy being back at it :D

Started out by taking the 37"'s off the 10" wheels as I have some new 8" coming (Bet you'll be asking WTF I'm doing :D) and boy was that a job and a half! Especially in this heat!

Tried using my Tyremachine but had to revert to the old fashioned way after the tyre got stock on the machine :o:D

Notice the bottlejack :D

WP_20180527_11_47_57_Pro.thumb.jpg.af90cb8b904299d388ed65b3bad1d4ff.jpgWP_20180527_11_55_37_Pro.thumb.jpg.a087109302886cd79e093df68ae05891.jpg

So after three tyres I needed a rest and a icy cold Pepsi:

WP_20180527_12_29_10_Pro.thumb.jpg.1227beee60f8526312466095ddab868c.jpg

After this was finally over with I turned to more easy jobs, first up was fitting a switch to control the winch from the front:

WP_20180527_14_50_15_Pro.thumb.jpg.acd550ed77800917fe89a2e41be987af.jpg

Then I decided to move the anchor to the front as we all know how annoying it is to have to run around the vehicle to get it. Took a surprising amount of time to make the bracketry needed, it also has to be easy to remove and reinstall mind you :)

65kg a corner here with 37" treps & racelines, id say they are stronger than wolf wheels though
