110 Side locker project. £90 for custom made door, all in!

Recommended Posts

Very handy thing for many applications, campers as well as tool access etc.

But on a slightly OT note, this page, BMP files on the web, ~1.1MB each, 982x1149, scaled down to 100px wide... oh dear... I thought it was loading slowly:

That's an excellent find - I have wanted a pair of those for the back end of my 109 for some time but I had only seen single sized, over priced kits by LR specialists, and I need them to be roughly square to fit behind Defender side windows at the front of the side panels (so roughly square).

Now that the 'coding issue' has been resolved, this is what I was trying to post last night!

Hi Rusty, Have just finished work so its a bit dull to take pics, will get on it tomorrow....
You have to sort your own stays, I went for a simple mechanical one (a door of this size doesn't need 2!)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/310116865217?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

If you want to fit gas struts, they suggest getting an MDF insert put inside the door when you order it, an extra tenner I think?

When clamping the frame to the side panel, I should have drilled out the pop rivets holding the door to the frame, and

removed the door as you cant clamp the top bit of the frame with the door in place!
I will include a pic of the stay which, by chance is a perfect length I think....

Cheers
Gary

Stay (there is a catch to release it when it locks in place)

Bluehaze, they probably have got all the sizes you don't want!
You would be better making one yourself I think or you could try these...

Or is it one of these you are thinking of?

I'm trying to convince myself that I don't want one but I'm not having much luck lol!

Yes, the latter is the sort of thing I'm after. Like this:

Just I'm a tight northerner and don't wish to spend that much!

That's the one that fits behind the rear wheel isn't it?

TBH, that's not a bad price for stainless!
