manxrover
Hi all Got a real headache with my 2001 TD5, the horns and cruise control have stopped working, checked all connections to the horns an cruise control, both work when direct power is applied no vac leaks, changed rotary coupler in steering wheel, but still no joy. Has anyone ever had this problem as there seems to be a lot of threads on the web but no one has had a result. The only thing I can think of is the rotary coupler I got from Ebay may be duff, so I will try another one, but in the mean time anyone any ideas. sierrafery
check fuse F16 in engine bay(this feed is connected to the cruise controll switch too beside the horn relay)
manxrover
Hi Thanks, Done that, and replaced both relays with new ones, shorted fuse 16 horns sound, shorted relay horns sound, but no power to horns from steering wheel buttons. (gasp) Thanks Brian
sierrafery
then the rotary coupler becomes the most obvious... second hand are not reliable ... i know that a new one is friggin expensive ... though it's strange that only the horns and the cruise controll dont work with both coupligs ... bypass the rotary coupler on the horn circuit and try the buttons then to make sure... if it will not work this way there's some other issue... at the white plug (C0082) the purple/orange wire is for horns, connect the switch's output there and see if it works by pushing it
Rangy35
I have never seen a vacuum unit for a TD5 cruise control, this is very interisting.
