Bowie69
Only reason why that relay should energise when you connect the brown only, is if either the ECU is earthing the blue/red wire when it shouldn't, the blue/red wire is damaged and shorted to earth, or there is a somehow 12V getting to the white/grey wire and the ECU is powered up and therefore energising the main relay. zardos
You could always bin the standard ECU and go Megasquirt
Bowie69
Of course, but you can do the Q&A
stobbie
I've now tried my ecu in someone elses car. As soon as I plug it in the relay clicks. But it does that with the original ecu as well. I've checked several cars, and they all click as soon as I plug the ecu in. I've borrowed another ecu, and still no luck. I've wired everything to the car now, instead of all temporary wires, but still everything the same Now I have really run out of options I'm affraid.. FridgeFreezer
If the ECU is good (works fine in standard cars) then it's likely to be your wiring. It's proven at least twice before that it's faster to fit megasquirt than diagnose troublesome Lucas EFI
Bowie69
If ignition is off on the test cars, there should be no relay clicking at all when plugging ECU in. If it did, you would be flattening your battery every day or two just through the relay coil current.
stobbie
HI, the engine is running!! We have fitted another wiring loom and it fired right up! There must have been some kind of fault in the old loom. It has caused me a lot of headache, but now I'm happy again!!!
Bowie69
Good Now check it is running RIGHT by going through the diagnostics anyways
