jackmac Posted December 10, 2013 Share Posted December 10, 2013 Quick question regarding wiring for my FIA switch. I know this is a topic that's been covered to death all over, but mine is a bit different. I am using the relay from an X-Charge system on the main battery cable, the trigger wire for this go through the FIA switch thus meaning I don't have to run 40mm^2 cables through my cubby box. I understand how to wire the switch, except for the resistor. I know one side of the 1st spade terminals goes to earth through a resistor to prevent damage to the alternator, but not sure where the +ve side for this needs to come from? Obviously I can't take a feed from the large terminal on the FIA switch because in my set up that's not actually the battery cable, so where does it need to come from? Do I take it from the -ve side of the X-Charge relay, or do I need to take it off the starter motor? Hope that makes sense... I'll knock up a diagram if not! jackmac Posted December 10, 2013 Author Share Posted December 10, 2013 Yep, it's a 200A relay I think and the draw on it should never go above 100A. Winch is running through a much higher rated one that that. On the battery box I have a mechanical isolator which is the last thing before the battery cable connects to the starter motor, so I could put a wire from the engine side of that isolator then?
