Having a look at the site to see how much the crimp-type DB37 connectors are but everything listed as out-of-stock. How much are these?

Was quite happy to use the solder-type but discovered that the solder buckets are not at all happy about accepting 1mm wire. In fact after some research find that 20awg (or equivalent) is the max size recommended for the solder-type..

If you tin the wire AND the bucket and then hold them together, just touch with the iron so the solder flows and the wire sits into the bucket without splaying. It can end up quite close, heat-shrink over each terminal is a very good idea IMHO.
