mikec
Hi guys just wondering what the crack was with this spacer ring here when fitting a pto I've already fitted the pto to another gearbox but I never used it, it needs to go on this box now so might as well get it right. The winch kit came with a spacer which was a slightly difference thickness by a couple of mm of so anyone know if I need to swap spacers or not? Cheers mike
Daan
I am unaware of the need of a spacer, I dont have one on my PTO. I presume if it doesn't drag in 'off' position, it works ok. You think you can post a piccy of the spacer?
mikec
It's probably more a retainer for the input gear to be honest rather than a spacer. You can see it on the box in the pic above about half inch thick or so. But the one I got with my pto kit was slightly different thickness just wondering if there was a reason for it. CwazyWabbit
Which PTO kit did you get? Is it an old superwinch hydraulic one? My Superwinch one is fitted with the retainer that was on the box, if you swap retainers you'll have to swap the bearing race for the input gear rear bearing over as well which would technically requre re-shimming of the input gear bearings. I'd leave well enough alone and use the retainer already fitted to the box.
mikec
Yeah it's a Superwinch one. That makes sense I suppose seems strange how there's different thicknesses tho or maybe it's just casting tolerances? Seems a lot tho I'll measure when I'm out next
CwazyWabbit
I'd hazard a guess that the thicker one you have is just the retainer from a different LT230, if I recall correctly the parts list in the superwinch manual didn't list a new retainer .... miketomcat
The spacer as your calling it is the bearing carrier for the in put gear it's not part of the pto your pto should bolt straight up to that face at least that's how mine is (fairey 525).
