Mo Murphy
My electric TD5 speedo will be going in soon and I'd like to make use of the red alarm led in the middle of the face. How would one pulse an electric signal to make it flash ? Mo
Guest diesel_jim
you can connect directly to the LED, it's one of the wires on the back of the speedo (i've got the siring diagram at home if you need the colour), i'm about to install one into my 90. a nice easy to understand site here for flasher circuits. rtbarton
The easiest way is to replace it with a flashing LED
Mo Murphy
Roger, I don't think I can get in there to change it without taking the speedo to pieces and I don't feel terribly confident about doing that ! Jamie, that looks good but 'tis electrickery ! Could anyone make one of these for me ? I know some of you dabble in electronics. Mo
rtbarton
You may be able to connect a flashing LED in series with the existing LED. If the existing LED works of 12v then a normal flashing LED of greater power than the existing should cause them both to flash. If the existing LED doesn't have a series resistor in circuit then a 12v flashing LED in series may work.
