landyrach
Please can anyone advise me over a tyre issue. I have had a set of four Insa Turbo tyres on my 110 for just under a year and no issues. I had them balanced about a month ago and just flew through my MOT last week. 2 days before the MOT I developed a judder and after thorough check of uj's, bearings etc couldn't find the issue, nothing was noted on MOT. I have taken the wheels off to check all joints and just noticed that one tyre has changed shape! About a foot long section of the tyre has narrowed and the tread become pointed up in the middle! The tread is also cracked in this section!. No bulges or scuffs on side, no damage to rims. I am baffled as what would cause this an quite hacked off as they weren't cheap. Any ideas great fully received Thanks
axlechorus
I haven't heard of that happening before, My only thought is that something internal to the tyre I.e. In the cord/banding has changed/loosened. Either way I would get it investigated by a tyre specialist myself. I'm not sure where you would stand from a warranty point of view but I would enquire about that as well. Kind regards
CwazyWabbit
I could be wrong here but I understood that Insa Turbos are remoulds, it does sound like there has been some kind of failure in the carcase of the tyre as Axlechorus says. I would avoid driving high speeds and long journeys till you've had it checked, it may also be worth contacting the supplier as failing within a year isn't very good (assuming you haven't just driven around the world)
Mr Noisy
It can happen Speak to the supplier otherwise you're snookered. Set of fedimas that are on eBay right now, pal bought them new, they weren't round, 4x4tyresonline I think it was, they took them back used, ebayed them, sold them and u assume the guy that bought them has them back on eBay again Remoulds are not always perfect but that's why new casing off road tyres are ££££
FridgeFreezer
I would avoid driving high speeds and long journeys F**k that, I'd take it off and NOT USE IT AT ALL if it's going a funny shape!
Mr Noisy
Oh yeah, it's definitely shot.

Phil Hancock
We had a pair of Firestone tyres do exactly the same as what the OP has described, it was the cords across the tread failed. The first one went flat, pulling the tyre off revealed steels cords projecting into the inner tube and the odd shape, the second was when the old man got home with the truck one day and we noticed that a second had gone miss-shapen, in the case of that one wires were projecting out of the inner sidewall. From that point we wouldn't touch firestone tyres, are they even still made?
taurion
Deformed tyres heat up very quickly and then go BANG if you continue to use them...Take it off immediately. Ifor Williams 12" tyres do it for a pastime.
GW8IZR
Had a pair of GG AT2's on a Hilux go out of shape , rear axle so no alignment problem. Ran for 50K miles then suddenly it sounded like the rear diff was droning. Tread was about 4mm out of round for about 300mm They were well above the wear bars .. maybe 8 to 10mm tread left. Boydie
From what you describe you have suffered from delamination, that is the laminations of the tyre have seperated, the main cause(s) of this are heat (over the limit speed of the tyre) and/or poor construstion. Generally this is seen on the side walls but in the centre is not that uncommon. Take the tyre back to your supplier and have it inspected, if, as some of the comments indicate, these are re-treads the maximum speed high way speed would be 80 kph before heat generated would cause delamination.
