Anglo-Frenchman
Having suffered a leaking transfer box a while back I changed the seal to the front outbut shaft and found that the problem was solved. During the process I noted that there was some scoring around the outer surface of the flange where it contacts the seal but thought it was just normal wear and tear. After about 2500km I find that it is leaking again and wondered if this scoring is the reason that the seal has failed so soon. Does anyone have any experience of this? If I change the flange will the new seal have to be changed again or will it still be any good? I'm off to wash the bloody EP90 off my back window again! Les Henson
If the lip of the seal has cut a groove in the flange, then you should really change the flange and seal at the same time. The seal is cheap enough, so it might be wise to replace it anyway. Les.
Mo Murphy
I agree with Les, if the drive flange is scored, change it. They're not that expensive. Mo
