Maverik
As title suggests, does anyone know if a Def 200tdi water pump (STC639) can be fitted to a Diesel turbo engine which should have (STC635)... I have a feeling the thermostate inlet is a slightly different size between the twi, but other than that I belive the pitch of the flange bolts is the same... anyone tried this before? Cheers Mav
western
parts book list the same gasket number for both engines, see item 4 on pages 135 [TD] & 180 [200Tdi] link for photo comparison only defender spec 200tdi water pump http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/12474/STC639-WATER-PUMP-200TDI.html?search=stc639&page=1 TD coolant pump http://www.lrseries.com/shop/product/listing/12471/STC635-WATER-PUMP.html?search=stc635&page=
Maverik
Of course the gasket! great spot Ralph, so the pitch of bolts and pump fitting to the block must be pretty much the same if not identical, hopfully, like I mentioned I think the only difference is that the 200tdi pump top outlet/inlet is a bit narrower than the DT one... I'll find out tomorrow and report my results! Thanks again Ralph.
western
your welcome, make sure you check bolt lengths as some are different between the 2 pumps, I forgot to put the links to the relevant parts book pages, so TD page 135 in http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/parts_books/110/2_engine_25P_25D_25TD_p17-167.pdf Defender spec 200tdi page 180 in http://www.retroanaconda.com/landrover/parts_books/110/3_engine_200TDI_300TDI_V8_p168-299.pdf

Gremlin
I did it to mine no idea if it was a TD pump (all steel not ali), one bolt was a little different in position, just widen the hole with a drill and fit. The problem came form the pulley mounting flange, they were different, you will have to push the one off the tdi pump and onto the other pump, well thats what i did. Problem in my case of using such a pump was lack of availability of the tdi pump here in the past, and it was dirt cheap, changed back to the proper pump during my rebuild. I still dont know what pump it was, could be from a series for all i know! G
