Souster
Got a fair bit of rot in the bottom of the battery box on my 90 1996 which i have now cut out. Would someone be able to explain to me how this works? And if they have used and fitted one of these themselves. Seems more series based than the defender. Or am i just totally on cuckoo. http://www.yrmlandrover.com/epages/BT3575.mobile/sec84c3ccf3c8/?ObjectPath=/Shops/BT3575/Products/023A/SubProducts/023A-0001 Cheers

Souster
Thanks Mo, i thought something wasnt quite right. The price appealed too much aha. Looks like its going to be a peice of sheet steel welded in then instead, its abit cheaper!
ejparrott
The first you linked to is the same style of thing as I have in my Series 3. Cut a rectangular hole in the bottom, dropped in a folded box and welded it in place. Probably just as useful for dropping a second battery under the drivers seat of a 90/110. The second is an entire new compartment specifically designed for a 90/110 with its fancy curves and all, and will requires careful dismantling of your seatbox and then fitting in just as carefully. Scotts90
I fitted both the YRM battery box and under drivers seat tool box to my original 200tdi seat box as it was holed under the battery tray. Most of the 2nd hand ones I looked at had rotten panels at the tub mount and as I had relocated the fuel tank I had some dead space under the drivers seat. Very straightforward to fit albeit pricey but it gives loads of room for some electrickery
Maverik
If you hadn't have been quite so keen to chop the rot, I rather successfully repaired the box on my 90 by removing most of the rust, drying it out then where there was holes fill/ bridge with Alu mesh then use some fibre glass repair resin P40, worked really well. Good idea, but most of it was rotten. Think the previous owner may have had battery issues due to the rest of the chassis/bulkhead being totally rot free
