Top link bush torque

Recommended Posts

Top link bushes should be replaced on my '92 110 sw (NTC1773).

Checks in several available WSM made and there is no torque value stated.

I guess in that case some common sense value should be used, but I'm not experienced enough to decide?

Any help?

Regards, Ivan

top link ball joint pin to axle casing 176nm

A frame arms to chassis brackets no torque figure listed 2 bolts ensure vehicle weight is all on the tyres before tightening these, so suspension is in it's normal position.

A frame brackets to chassis cross member 47nm 6 bolts

A frame arms to ball joint housing 115nm 2 bolts

extracted from my genuine workshop manual.

no problem with your question, I understand it completely :i-m_so_happy:

refer to the 2nd line in my reply above, your marked area is the A frame arms to chassis bracket bolts

in red as marked on your picture

top link ball joint pin to axle casing 176Nm item 12

A frame arms to chassis brackets no torque figure listed 2 bolts ensure vehicle weight is all on the tyres before tightening these, so suspension is in it's normal position. item 6

A frame brackets to chassis cross member 47Nm 6 bolts items 8 & 9

A frame arms to ball joint housing 115Nm 2 bolts item 17

hope the above helps make it clearer for you. :i-m_so_happy:

  • 5 years later...

I know this is an old thread, but the bolts on my 98’ 110 were not metric, but imperial UNF from factory ( marked Atlas) the 1/2” at A frame arms to ball joint connection are grade 8 and the two big 3/4” at end of A frame arm to chassis are grade 5.  So I’m not sure how a 92 would be metric?

Class for metric and Grade for SAE don’t line up. Grade 8 is about same as Class 10.9
