Boydie
Most Disco's sold in Australia were/are autos, as mine was originally, now I've converted it to a R380 manual I'm having all sorts of problems locating the metal cover that is normally pop-riveted onto the transmission tunnel for the manual gearbox, they are as rare as the proverbial hens teeth here, so, would anyone have one that they would be willing to sell me, I'm more than happy to pay the postage cost on top of the purchase price, if it has the rubber boots for the gearstick(s) all the better. landroversforever
How big is it Boydie? Friends of mine living in Aus are coming home for Xmas and I could ask if there's any suitcase room?
hangover
Wouldnt it be easy enough to just fabricate one ? Otherwise there are some D1's being wrecked on AULRO with one being a tdi manual.
PaulN
Saw your post this morning and popped out to the barn and found this.... Not sure if this is what you're after Boydie? It's off 1998 R380. If it is and in a state you can work with all well and good - if not no worries! You're welcome to it for the cost of posting - not sent to Aus before! Boydie
Thats the one :-) as you can see it's almost impossible to fabricate, I'm off into the bush for the next couple of months so please put it aside and get a postage price and I will send you the cash/email/international transfer as soon as Julie and I get back sround Christmas time and thank you again - Oh I dont need the soundproofing , just the cover . Boydie
Whats in the little plastic bag, if it's important please include it.
PaulN
Whats in the little plastic bag, if it's important please include it. Its got 2 ring clamps for around one of the shifters and a braket that fits under front consol - when took apart stuck it all together. Doesn't weigh much so I'll put it in. If it's all that rare out there you sure you don't want shaped accoustic foam? I'll bag it and be in touch.....
Boydie
Hi Paul, no, one of the first things I did with my Disco was to remove ALL the internal sound proofing reducing the sprung weight of the car by some 20 odd kilos of rubber that would otherwise be a water soaked sponge every time I crossed a deep creek, these days I just have the carpet and I've never found it too noisy even on long trips. Let me know what the postage is and how you want me to transfer the funds to you, and again, many thanks

steve_a
I can't believe you didn't try Triumph Rover Spares in SA. For the price of a small child they could have it sent to you and get it in just a few weeks. Joking aside, they would have it, it's a sad sight is their yard with all perfectly repairable land rovers, it just depends on whether the price would be acceptable. I've not found them the cheapest of operators, but when you purchase any land rover being scrapped you get to name your price...
Boydie
Hey Hangover, thats well below the midrift :-) may your sprockets turn cubic. metal I can weld and form, thin rubber is a little more complicated -if I had a perfect original I could, if they were completely unobtainable make a fibreglass mould from it and then cast duplicates in latex but Oh, what a shinanigan that is and Steve, I've never heard of TR Spares in SA but message me their number and contact detailsand I'll record if for future ref.
