Ashley1331
Hi Ashley here first time defender. Purchased a 54 td5 last night at the bottom of the country, looks and drives perfect. However ive used her today for 2 hours. Then put her in reverse then a loud noise. When you push and lift the clutch, it's goes higher and lower I can't be too sure if it does it in first. The problem isn't always there, it only does it every now and then. Any ideas? Thanks
sighnbox
I shouldn't laugh but welcome to my world ...EXACTLY what I had, have , being done tomorrow ......We suspect its the release bearing ...but will let you know tomorrow...Mines all gears using the clutch
dirtyninety
Quite common on TD5's the clutch release bearing whines and groans. or it'll be the spigot bush in the end of the crank. Replace BOTH with genuine parts whilst the box is removed.

Roverdrive
Ashley Does it only make a noise with your foot on the clutch pedal? Could be the spigot bush or the release bearing as indicated above.
