200tdimorgan
Good evening people. After some advice, building a ccv and trying to fit gearbox to engine. I have a 4.6 and trying to fit the hp22 to the back of it. Using the medium sized torque converter but it is too far inside the bellhousing, which means it won't mate up to the flex plate. I don't know too much about these as in what fit what's, but I'm sure this has been done before I just cant find any information about it. Anyone know what I'm missing or what I need. elbekko
We did this recently. Mixed and matched some flexplate spacers, I think the final total thickness was 12mm? You may want to get some slightly longer bolts too.
zim
Use the bits from a p38 4.0 and it'll all fit G
200tdimorgan
When you say the bits from the 4.0 do you mean the flywheel aswell? Any one got one lying around before i start ringing the breakers. Cheers
Escape
Indeed, it all depends on which parts you have available to mix and match. We (i.e. Quentin) used a gearbox from an RRC, but with a bellhousing and torqueconvertor from a late P38a and a flywheel from an early P38a. With very good reason I should add (the 4.6 torque converter doesn't fit the HP22), but it did mean some trial and error and a lot of measuring to get everything fitted. 200tdimorgan
i have the complete 3.9 that i took the hp22 off, so i have all those parts, can the flywheel and spacer be used from that engine. Wasnt sure if the flywheel would fit (same pcd? no tabs for sensor (although not using this as it will have a megasquirt tooth wheel on the front)) if i can use that spacer and flywheel, how does the spacer come off as i cant see any fixing method but it doesnt seem to want to come off. cheers
Bowie69
On my 4.0 into a 3.9HP22, I just used the 3.9 bits, but I did have to take out those REALLY annoying allen bolts from the crank that hold they spacer on, they were tight(!) Not sure how the 4.6 can be that much different?
200tdimorgan
Yeh, spoken to Mr ashcroft this evening, all the 3.9 bits will bolt to 4.6 and jobs a gud n. Just have to wait till weekend to do it now. Thanks for the replies

Cheers Sorry, i'd just been talking to someone about using the gems crank position sensor - hence my reply about using the 4.0 bits
